BPW Transpec enhances roll stability with new air suspension components
13 Jul,2020
A recent product update from BPW Transpec will benefit operators and manufacturers of Performance-Based Standards (PBS) vehicles.
The equipment specialist has answered the call from operators and manufacturers of Performance-Based Standards (PBS) vehicles for improved roll stability from its air suspension systems.
The higher gross weights and longer overall lengths of PBS-approved combinations has heightened demands on trailer axle and suspension components, a situation BPW Transpec has addressed with this latest update.
The company has released two new spring trailing arms for its AL2 air suspensions with improved roll stiffness ratings. The new spring trailing arms are 65mm thick rather than the original 62mm thick and are reported to improve total roll stiffness by 15 to 20 per cent.
According to BPW Transpec Engineering Manager, Ian Thomson, the updated products are yet another example of the company’s continual quest to provide the most durable and fit-for-purpose trailer axle and suspension components for the ever-changing road transport industry.
“In recent times the surge in uptake of PBS-approved combinations has led to an increase in demand for our products including self-tracking axles and heavy-duty air suspension systems,” said Thomson.
“As a leading manufacturer in this field, BPW Transpec is continually evolving its products to suit the similarly evolving needs of trailer builders and transport operators in this country.”
Thomson said the upgraded springs will be available in the most common BPW suspension models currently available and, importantly, can be substituted with no dimensional changes for the trailer builder.
In addition to the higher rated spring trailing arms, BPW Transpec also offers other components that are reported to increase roll stiffness in trailers including stabiliser bars and wide-track axles with super-single tyre applications.
